The Galleria was created and built by Gerald Hines in 1970. The mall initially had around 600,000 square feet of space. This first expansion began in 1976 and this was known as Galleria II. This section contained Lord & Taylor and office space. It was also regarded as the “Galleria Financial Center”. The year of 1986 brought about the third section known as Galleria III.  This new portion increased the total amount to 1.6 million total square feet.
