Looking for apartments for rent in Montrose, Houston, TX
Houston’s Montrose boasts one of the most unique and eclectic areas in the entire city. Not to be confused with Neartown, this neighborhood certainly has its own vibe. Locals love it. Montrose apartments for rent are popular for a variety of reasons. The entertainment and lifestyle options in the area are unique, to say the least. Some say it’s just plain weird. Others love it.
Montrose only occupies 4 miles square miles. Many establishments are open 24 hours along Westheimer road. It’s a short distance from Downtown. Shopping is never far away when you live in Houston, TX. The area features old homes, strange clubs, and tree-lined streets.
This neighborhood includes specialty stores, boutiques, quaint coffee shops, bars, popular restaurants, there is a little bit for everybody. It is also home to bed and breakfast businesses and Rothko Chapel. For those who are looking for an urban location but are wanting to escape from Houston, Montrose is the answer.
Apartments Feature in Montrose Houston
Museum District apartments are extremely popular, as are listings in Downtown Houston, and the ever-popular Midtown area. Amenities and features are wide-ranging. Many Montrose Houston apartments feature all the bells and whistles like granite counters, full-size washer and dryers, and on-site pet parks.
Future residents will find large complexes and smaller private duplexes for rent. Some of the larger rentals include brand new features like stained concrete flooring, island-style kitchens with granite counters, and social spaces that include Yoga Studios and dynamic fitness centers.
Finding Private Listings
Other properties include duplexes, condos, and private homes for rent. Garage apartments for rent in Montrose are extremely popular in this small section of town. They are harder to find as their landlords don’t do more than place a “vacant” sign in a window. Unless the interiors have been remodeled, they will be older and include basic essentials like carpeting, air conditioning, and ice-makers. Many times there is a community laundry room as opposed to having them directly in your apartment home.
If you are looking for a community, chances are looking online won’t be your best bet. As stated earlier the private bungalows and duplexes are much harder to locate. The owners are just regular people who don’t have much advertising experience. Start driving around Houston. Get out a pen and a piece of paper and start jotting down numbers. After you feel you have covered a large part of the area start making calls. You should have a large list of questions ready for the landlord.
Craigslist is also a good option when you are looking for that rental. But you will have to weed through hundreds of listings. The problem is there are many scams. But if you are determined, you will come across legitimate options like townhouses.
Remember an apartment owned by single owners that you put down a security deposit equal to one month’s rent. Brace yourself, these places can be quite old. Some private houses won’t come with parking. If you need something that will upgrade then you will want to stick with the larger Montrose apartment homes for rent. Pricing will be high.
Public Transportation in Montrose
If your contemplating moving into the area you will need a vehicle. Although you will have great access to some of the more unique sections of town on foot, the only public transportation in the immediate area will be the busing system. There are still many places to shop and walk.
Fun in Montrose
The Monrose Crawl is an annual event that takes place on the last Saturday in October. It’s sort of like a combo of trick or treating and a pub crawl. Be sure to don your best costume. There are contests and awards. Herman Park and the Zoo aren’t far away.
The inner loop has some of the highest concentrations of apts in Houston in the entire city. It’s always a good idea to enlist the help of family, friends, and even real estate agents who can help you along the way. Be sure to bring a friend with you as you tour, many times they can offer your opinions and advice.
