The Woodlands offers hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. There is no shortage of parks either. They number well over 100.

Conroe may be a great alternative. It’s literally adjacent to The Woodlands and hosts many more affordable apartment homes. Try the drive yourself These two cities are not separated by much distance at all.
Popular Neighborhoods with Residences
Like any city, it can be further broken down into districts or neighborhoods. And this is very true here.
If The Woodlands ever had a downtown, this would be it. Town Center has 1000 acres of dining, retail shops, and lots of entertainment. If you enjoy an urban feel, then this will be the top choice. It’s a combination of townhomes, streets, office buildings, and more. Town Center also includes notable points like The Woodlands Mall and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. It’s also home to many festivals and activities suitable for the entire family.
If you desire something on the opposite end of the spectrum, then Indian Springs might be just for you. It’s a much smaller and less trafficked area that includes mostly homes. This village gets its name from a local Indian tribe that once occupied the area. This is perfect for those of you who desire something a little more remote and off the beaten path.
You will need an automobile if you decide to call this city your new home. It’s not a very walkable city. There are two highways major highways that transport you to and from the city. I-45 is usually heavily congested and is a large source of transportation. Another option will be the Hardy Toll Road. This is a three-lane highway that serves as a paid alternative to clustered highways. It is far less traveled and provides a great alternative. But there are some park-in-ride options; if you don’t want to fight the traffic. And who could blame you? Nobody enjoys congestion. The Woodlands Express Park and ride offers 3 different pick-up locations and several drop-off points around the city of Houston.
How to Narrow Your Apartment Search
Searching for The Woodlands rentals can be a project. That’s why it’s always a good idea to have some extra resources to assist you. Remember Woodlands has all types of rentals. So you will have plenty of options, like private homes, condos, and of course standard flats. And options and variety are a good thing. You might have the option to live on a golf course. There are also brownstones and even lofts.
You will see quite a few luxury listings. Many newer complexes boast energy efficient construction features and amenities. The Woodlands will feature options with lavish amenities, like granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and tall ceilings. Many times apartment rentals simply don’t have the adequate space for you or your family. So you might decide to view single homes or townhomes. But expect these to be much more expensive than your standard 1 bedroom apartment home. Be sure to factor in other costs too. Private homes may require a substantial deposit. However, many renters don’t mind paying the extra costs for square footage and privacy.
About the Apartment Security Deposit
One major advantage of living in an apartment home is the lower security deposits. Since The Woodlands is in Texas, the landlord or management company is required to send you the deposit or an itemized list of damaged incurred within 30 days of you surrendering the unit. By law they cannot use the funds for any items that fall under the category of “normal wear and tear”.
How much are Rents Here
So you probably want to know how much you should budget for rentals. Rentals start around the mid $800’s and go up from there. Some of them are well into the $1000 range. And that’s for a 1 bedroom floor plan. It’s gonna be hard to find cheap apartments. 2 bedroom apartment homes are starting out at $1200 and up. Studio apartment homes are usually the cheapest, but you won’t have much luck with those types of units. But The Woodlands is a higher end city. If you want cheaper rentals, look farther south in Houston or check Conroe apartment rentals. Nearby Spring offers some competitively priced rental options. But if you can swing the higher pricing, then The Woodlands will make a perfect choice.
Pricing is really unheard of when you compare it to larger cities like New York and Boston. There are also other luxury 2 bedroom spaces that can creep in the $2000 range for similar square footage. Welcome to the Woodlands where you might actually call lodging cheap. This frees up your extra income for other options like entertainment, trips, and restaurants.
Woodlands Bark Parks
Become familiar with the dog parks. Many of the apartment options won’t have one on-site, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some options.
Bear Branch Dog Park: This 2-acre park has sections for both large and small dogs. Water is available, as well as benches and waste disposal.
Quick Rental tips
If you plan on commuting from here to downtown, you better buckle up and be prepared for some serious traffic. Rush hour won’t be your friend.
Before you sign your lease, be sure and ask your leasing agent about utility bills. Summers here are blazing hot, and you can expect that you will be using a lot of air conditioning to cool you down. Here is a tip. Try renting a home on the first floor. Remember hot air rises, and the cooler you are in the summer, the happier you will be. Ask your leasing agent about average utility bills. Older rentals in The Woodlands TX don’t have the energy efficiency of their newer counterparts. And it can save you quite a bit of money around summer time.
If you are looking for tons of acreage, that includes tall pines, bike paths, and a multitude of outdoor options, The Woodlands might be exactly what you are searching for. It’s a great destination for individuals who love activity. With dogs parks, hiking options, lakes, and tennis and basketball courts, you really don’t have an excuse to stay indoors here on a sunny day.
